Long Gone 01:12
she exerts a pull upon my personality like the way the moon exerts a pull upon the sea no nothing's gonna save the world but we might be alright no nothing's gonna save the world but we might have a good time but she's long gone

i start to worry that you might think that you're in love it's getting to be about time that we hurt each other keep it on the straight and narrow keep it on a level we can understand yeah pain and solitude it's low maintenance everybody loves it i start to worry that you might think you're falling in love with me that won't do it won't go down well in posterity that's what we do it for posteritee-hee-hee is what we do it for oh yeah

Downbeat 02:43
you can rise against closed fist and all and they will beat you down or you can cower low servile and chained and they will beat you down you can be yourself live free and strange and they will beat you down or you can tow the line you can be the same and they will beat you down we are cogs on a wheel and pawns on a board insignificant and we can be ignored we will be ignored just like we are ignored now you can tremble at death pretend that nothings dies and they will beat you down or you can push yourself to die in record time and they will beat you down we are cogs on a wheel and pawns on a board insignificant and we can be ignored we will be ignored just like we are ignored now you can deprecate in shallow modesty and they will beat you down or you can fool yourself and swell with unearned pride and they will beat you down

i don't want to read your poems and it's not because they are bad it's because i don't really care if you are feeling sad i don't want your exhibition and it's not because your paintings suck it's because they're about how you feel and i don't give a fuck i don't want to read your poems it's not (just) because they are bad it's because i just do not care that you are feeling sad

Mr Wilkinson 02:35
mr wilkinson can't even water his plants without injecting himself with cocaine he can't go to the shops to buy cheese and eyedrops without sticking a spike in his vain he once had a lady but she left him for a binman she was used to the junk in her life and he made her a vow which is meaningless now as he's halving some pills with a knife mr wilkinson doesn't know what he wants at three in the morning and which of us do oh he goes into town dripping sweat from his brow his head hanging low to protect from the crowd with his hair like a clown's and his mouth in a frown he starts at small sounds shiny eyes full of doubt he walks past the chemist three times looking shifty and he finally steels up his nerve but they know what he's there for and they've studied his picture no way is he going to get served but mr wilkinson doesn't know what he wants at three in the morning and which of us do

From Home 02:32
it's a bitter little road and i know you'll find it hard over yonder she looks beyond her another voyage starts and carry dunedin like a stone around your neck it's an awful place to live in but a great place to have left it doesn't matter where you're doing if you like what you do and we'll look out for you dim cafes and cobblestones, safe european homes it's still bourgeois but alive from a pompous education town to minarets and undergrounds with courage and shit well she'll just have to strive and carry dunedin like a stone around your neck it's an awful place to live in but a great place to have fled it doesn't matter where you're doing if you like what you do and we'll look out for you
